Blind Dates: Online Dating
These days you can never be too cautious when going out on a date with someone. Online dating is the new craze, but there are safety precautions you should take that will ensure your well-being.
There are many online dating services that aim to match you with a compatible date. But even with these services there is still some danger. It is wise to take precautions:
- When meeting someone for the first time, meet them in a public place instead of having them pick you up at your home
- If possible double date or meet friends out somewhere so you are not alone, and remember to stay only in well lit public places
- Remember that alcohol affects your judgment and keep track of how much you drink if you are drinking -- keep an eye on your drink at all times
- Be cautious throughout the night, and listen to your feelings
- If you feel uneasy about the date you are probably right -- excuse yourself politely and move on
- Before you go somewhere tell a friend where you will be, what time you plan on returning home, and how to contact you if they need to do so
Remember that there are good people out there like you who are harmless and looking for true love. But also keep in mind that not everyone has such a goal in mind --- different people have different motivations, so be careful and reserved until you are sure of your date's motivation.
Have fun on the date! If someone is willing to meet you and your friends in a public place chances are they are interested in getting to know you --- but you can never be too careful.
